Orientation

Hello, I went to orientation last night. I was so excited and scared (a little) at the same time. I entered the school and signed in and I got more excited and the scary part just melted away. of course orientation is setting ground rules and more paperwork.

I found it amusing that there were so many different ages. As I was driving to school, I wondered if I would be the oldest student and to my surprise I was not. Confort came to me as I looked around the room. I thought to myself, this will be fun. I have a bright future ahead of me and life is good. I said a thank you to the higher power. Although school and life will be stressful, I felt a sense of relief. I am replacing negative stress with positive stress and there is a difference.

The staff spoke to us one by one and introduced themselves. I enjoyed this alot because of thje diverisity. My teacher is a docter from another country and quite funny. The rest very warm and motivating. I truly felt supported and I knew I made a correct decision to go to school.

It was not easy choosing a school. It took a month to visit different schools, research job opportunities and responsibilities of my career choice. You have alot of choices to make in this process and considering a large amount of money you want the best education you can recieve from a school.

I chose MedVance Institute because they offered more and I felt they will really take care of me. They have an excellent placement/graduation rate which is posted on the internet by the State of Tennessee Board of Education. This is very important. High-Tech did not fair so well and Remington College when I interviewed there did not seem to care. They were cold. No energy in the school either.

I start Monday and I pray I will make excellent grades and can hold up to a busy scheldule of school + work + life....

Recap:

Make sure you visit different schools, take the tour.

Get and apply for all the financial aid you can.

You will need a SS card, Driver's License, High School/GED Records (must request your school send your records to the school sealed)

You must be devoted to "YOURSELF". Make sure that family and friends Know that this is "YOUR TIME" and ask for support while you are in school. Limit your calls, vists, events, and ask for help with household chores. Remember! THIS IS YOUR TIME!

About rosegojda

hi i am fifty year old single female never married yet - after a decade of full time care of now deceased parents i am looking for both college aid and aid to start a new business and organic farm

i have three college degrees from the 80's - back when we still used stone tools and had to use format cards to submit "computer runs" and wait three hours for the batch runs to return our results LOL

i had scholarships that i used right out of highschool but unsure of what is available in this "century"

i would love to hear of any grants or low interest loans or aid and anyone else's "adventure" at starting over at the  ripe young age of 50
